1965 – Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint

The Visone Scuro Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint in the collection represents the evolution of one of Giorgetto Giugiaro’s earliest and most influential production designs.

The story of the model began with the 2000 Sprint, presented at the end of 1959 and designed by Giugiaro shortly after joining Nuccio Bertone. On that project he defined a balanced two-door, four-seater coupé with a light pavilion, a discreet tail and, above all, a highly distinctive front end.

Its most important innovation was the integration of the four headlights into the grille, creating a single visual volume between bonnet and fenders. This solution would go on to influence not only later Alfa Romeo models, but automotive design more broadly.

When the 2000 series was replaced by the more powerful 2600 in 1962, the Sprint retained almost all of the aesthetic language developed by Giugiaro. The new version therefore preserved the original proportions and stylistic identity while introducing a more advanced mechanical package.

The example in the collection, finished in visone scuro, was chosen as a representative of this mature evolution of the original project: a car that carries forward one of the first clear expressions of Giugiaro’s design language into a more refined and powerful grand tourer.
