Donated to the collection by an enthusiast, this Zastava Florida stands as a gesture of recognition for a model still little known in Italy and for Giorgetto Giugiaro’s contribution to its design and development.

In 1983, ZCZ began the programme to develop a successor to the Yugo, the Yugoslav subcompact based on the platform and mechanical architecture of the FIAT 127. Giugiaro was entrusted with the styling, engineering, prototypes and development of project “Z-103”, which would later become the Zastava Florida.

The final design was characterized by a strongly raked windscreen, a sloping bonnet, an upright rear window and a sharply cut-off tail, giving the car a more modern and internationally oriented identity.

Presented at the Belgrade Motor Show in April 1987, the Florida entered series production the following year. Although not conceived as an avant-garde design exercise, it represented an important step forward in image, quality and design for the Yugoslav automotive industry.

Its presence in the collection also reflects the appreciation of those who recognized the significance of a car that remained relatively uncommon outside its domestic market.
