1992 – BMW Nazca C2

The Nazca C2 was developed as a more performance-oriented interpretation of the original Nazca M12, concentrating primarily on increased power, reduced weight and a series of functional modifications to the bodywork.

The centrally mounted 5-litre BMW V12 engine was tuned by Alpina to deliver 350 HP, while extensive optimization of the mechanical and body components reduced the overall weight to approximately 1,000 kg. Compared with the Nazca M12, the additional 50 HP and a weight reduction of around 100 kilograms gave the C2 a significantly more focused performance character.

Its name itself reflected this evolution: the designation “C2” was a clear reference to Group C racing cars and to the more competition-oriented direction of the project.

Despite these changes, the design retained the elegant simplicity that had defined the Nazca M12. The C2 appears more aggressive and technically purposeful, with greater emphasis on details that immediately communicate its sporting nature, yet without resorting to unnecessary stylistic excess.

The design model preserved in the collection represents this more radical phase of the Nazca project, in which Fabrizio Giugiaro pushed the original concept towards a lighter, more powerful and more explicitly performance-driven expression.
