Unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Ren was conceived as Techrules’ first production supercar and introduced a highly distinctive approach to both design and technology.
The full-scale Design Model preserved in the Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro Collection documents the development of a project strongly inspired by the world of aerospace. Its architecture is defined by a central driving position and a modular three-cockpit configuration, enclosed by individual fighter jet-style canopies that rise to provide access to the cabin.
The body was shaped around aerodynamic efficiency, with clean, taut surfaces and lines closely following the underlying structure of the vehicle. Rather than treating form as decoration, the design expresses the technical architecture itself, following the principle of “form follows function”.
The Ren also explored an unconventional technological vision through Techrules’ TREV – Turbine-Recharging Electric Vehicle – system, combining electric propulsion with turbines used to generate energy for the batteries.
Beyond its radical appearance, the Ren represents a significant starting point: the first project of a new chapter in Fabrizio and Giorgetto Giugiaro’s design activity and one of the earliest expressions of the philosophy that would define GFG Style.
