2019 – GFG Style Vision 2030

The polystyrene design model preserved in the collection documents the first three-dimensional development of the GFG Vision 2030, a project conceived in response to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme and to the profound transformation of mobility and infrastructure envisioned for the country.

The specific characteristics of the region played a fundamental role in defining the project. Wide new roads, long distances, deserts, dunes and rough terrain led Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro to imagine an electric Hyper SUV capable of combining high-speed road performance with the ability to tackle more demanding surfaces.

The study of the wheels and suspension system became one of the starting points of the design. Large 22-inch wheels and the required ground clearance had to coexist with a low, streamlined and distinctly sporting silhouette, defining the unusual proportions of the vehicle.

At this stage, the model focuses entirely on the relationship between volume, stance and surface. The compact central body, continuous glazed area and strongly defined sides establish the visual identity that would later characterize the completed Vision 2030.

As a polystyrene design model, it preserves the project before the introduction of final materials and mechanical components, offering a direct view of the formal research from which the Vision 2030 originated.
