Inside the Milan Central Station, on the platform front and in the Galleria del Mosaico connected to it, there are two open terraces, which host commercial activities. Giugiaro Architettura was responsible for designing the roofing of these spaces, with a glass envelope capable of protecting and air conditioning these environments, with the lowest possible visual impact. The project takes up the square lines with rounded corners already created in the new glass shops of Galleria delle Carrozze, the main atrium of the station. Furthermore, in this case the roof is partially inclined, lower on the track and tunnel front, to reduce the impact of the main front, higher towards the inside of the volumes, to obtain more internal useful height. In these spaces, mainly catering activities will be located, according to the "foodcourt" model, which involves the sharing of some common services between the different commercial establishments.
