The project that gives birth to the Sx4 and its twin Fiat Sedici starts in the early 2000s when General Motors (shareholder of the Suzuki brand) enters into a joint venture with the Fiat group to produce passenger cars in the European market. Starting with a brand-new basic chassis developed from the platform of the fourth-series Swift, Suzuki engineers created a kind of compact Sport Utility Vehicle that could fill the gap left by the previous Suzuki Liana. The Sx4's design is styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro; details include front headlights that follow the family feeling introduced by the fourth series of Suzuki Swift in 2004, while the tail features wide, triangular-shaped headlights. Wide side glazing and a remarkably spacious cabin are designed to ensure optimal on-board living. Compared to the Sedici, the Sx4 differs substantially in front and rear bumpers and a different, more muscular design. The interior dashboard, on the other hand, is shared without changes by the Italian.
